One of the most beautiful tropical countries in the world is Thailand. This center of the South-East part of Asia is lucky to have a giant capital city, Bangkok, which is the business center of the whole area, and apart from that an enormous amount of beautiful natural sites. The coastline stretches out along almost the whole peninsula, with Malaysia and Singapore forming the south end.

In Bangkok I made a boattrip along the many canals of the city. This river is called the Mekong. Old, traditional 'longboats' like these are powered by truck-diesel-engines. Most of them have flower-wreaths at their bows (well, this one here hasn't, but the exception confirms the rule..)

Here you see that I wasn't lying, right?

Mariana told me it was not a good habit to make pictures of Buddha-statues. I don't know if she invented this rule by herself, but as you can see at the next page, these statues are really beautifiul.
